The consequences of a clogged particulate filter on a Mercedes Euro 6 are numerous. In our case, the filter was completely blocked, preventing exhaust gases from escaping. Worse still, the gases were flowing back into the intake and turbo, sometimes even hindering the vehicle from starting properly due to excessive exhaust pressure. Another consequence is that the vehicle enters a severely degraded mode, resulting in a significant reduction in engine power and torque. This makes the truck barely operable, and it’s advisable not to use it to avoid further damage. The exhaust gas aftertreatment fault not only causes degraded operation but can also limit the maximum speed of your Arocs to 20 km/h.

Our procedure involves extracting the truck’s configuration using our specialized software. This requires a direct connection to the MCM (Motor Control Module) to retrieve parameters from the internal engine control software. We also work on the ACM (After Treatment Control Module) to clear any fault codes present. Additionally, we deactivate the EGR valve in the MCM to prevent the intake system from being clogged by exhaust gas recirculation.

Once our reprogramming is complete, we use the Xentry system to reset the DPF values and soot levels. If the SCR faults concerning NOx are not cleared, we do this manually. Following this, we conduct a road test to ensure that the warning lights on the dashboard are no longer visible and that the vehicle has regained its power and is no longer in degraded mode
